Mosquitoes

There are over 3500 species of mosquitoes in the world today. Mosquitoes are a vector agent that carries disease causing viruses and parasites from person to person without exhibiting symptoms themselves. Mosquitoes are estimated to transmit disease to more than 700 million people annually in Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico, Russia and much of Asia resulting in more than 2 million deaths per year from various mosquito related diseases. In India there is more than 200,000 deaths reported from Malaria alone per year. The various types of mosquitoes and the disease they spread are given below:

AEDES: Causes diseases: yellow fever, dengue, lymphatic filariasis.	ANOPHELES: Causes disease such as Malaria	CULEX: Causes diseases such as West Nile Virus,Malaria,Filariasis and Encephalitis.
WUCHERERIA BANCROFTI MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Filaria, Brain Fever, Yellow Fever	AEDES AEGYPTI MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Chikungunya	CULEX GENERA MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Rift Valley Fever
TERM WEST NILE MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Arboviral Encephilitides	AEDES AFRICANUS MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Yellow fever	CULICINE MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Bunyamwera fever
PSOROPHORA MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as California encephalitis	CULEX TRITAENIORHYNCHUS MOSQUITO: Causes disease such as Japanese encephalitis
